Join us February 5th through the 11th for  National Burn Awareness Week.

Burn awareness week offers a great opportunity for management teams, safety professionals, and companies all over the U.S. to take the time to shine some light on the importance of burn hazards around the job and highlight their burn prevention program or even take the time to create one with their safety council and employees. 

   THE 411 ON BURNS AND WHY PREVENTION IS VITAL 

  1. Burns in the workplace account for up to 45% of all burns according to the NCBI.
  2. work explosions and fires at the workplace in the U.S. account for 5,000 injuries every year.
  3. over 300,000 scald burn injuries have been associated with household appliances like stoves, cookware, and bathtubs.
  4. The lifetime odds of someone dying from exposure to fire, flames, or smoke are 1 in 1,498 (in the U.S.)
  5. Almost one-quarter (24%) of all burn injuries occur in children under the age of 15.
  6. 96.7% of those treated in burn centers will survive. Unfortunately, many survivors will sustain serious scarring and life-long disabilities.
